Course Description

An introduction to a broad spectrum of ceramic art from diverse cultures, with a focus on visual theory, aesthetics, criticism, and historical context. Students will develop critical thinking skills through the analysis of cultural and technological constructs which influenced the creation of specific genres. In addition, students will produce original works of ceramic art by reinterpreting the traditions they study in a contemporary context, with an emphasis on creative problem solving skills. This course has a non-refundable materials charge of $10. Transfer credit: CSU.
