Course Description

Comparative study of selected works (poetry, prose, drama, and film), in translation and in English, of literature from around the world, including Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and other areas, from the mid or late seventeenth century to the present. Focus on the major comparative literary traditions in a regional/geographic context and major authors representing literary traditions worldwide. Lectures, discussions, recorded readings, and writing of critical essays.
