Course Description

Listen to Beethoven’s symphonies, piano sonatas, and string quartets in detail. Relate Beethoven and his music to society, and to later 19th-century culture. Bach, Haydn and Mozart are sure to make guest appearances. Ability to read music not required, but scores are used to illustrate details. Concert attendance required.
