This program represents the first phase of training in the Emergency Medical Technician career structure. The course covers all techniques of emergency equipment and supplies considered within the responsibilities of the EMT-I. In addition to didactic and skills training on campus, the course includes observation in a local hospital Emergency Room and a ride-along rotation with a local ambulance company. To receive a certificate students must achieve a minimum grade of C in the course and satisfactory completion of the clinical component and required skills testing.
