Program Overview

Through this program, students are prepared to work in a variety of settings including public and private medical clinics, hospitals, medical research groups, and city and state health departments. Students learn medical terminology, anatomy, transcription, and word processing. Employment opportunities are in both full- and part-time categories and have high potential for advancement, an option for working at home, and flexible hours. Among the skills mastered are medical terminology and medical transcription. Students learn a variety of report formats. These include Chart Notes, Reports of Operation, Discharge Summaries, and Consultation Reports. Students will learn patient assessment techniques and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
