Course Description

In this course students demonstrate developmentally appropriate early childhood program planning and teaching competencies under the supervision of Early Childhood Education faculty and other qualified early education professionals. Students utilize practical classroom experiences to make connections between theory and practice, develop professional behaviors, and build a comprehensive understanding of children and families. Reflective practice are emphasized as student teachers design, implement, and evaluate approaches, strategies, and techniques that promote development and learning. Content includes exploration of career pathways, professional development, and educator responsibilities.

Prerequisites: ECE. 201 or PSYC 201 (offered at College of San Mateo and Skyline College), and ECE. 210 and ECE. 211 and ECE. 212 and ECE. 333; Placements at approved sites only, under the direct supervision of an individual who holds a Master Teacher Permit or higher, issued by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
