TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program that assists students
who identify as first generation, low income, or who have a learning or physical disability
in earning their AA/AS degree and transferring to four-year colleges/universities.
TRIO-SSS offers the personalized support you need to succeed in your academic and
educational goals. The program provides you with academic and career counseling as
well as master tutors for Math, Reading and Writing. We offer additional services
such as cultural and social activities, workshops, and field trips to four-year colleges

Weekly tutorials take place at Sequoia High School
Upward Bound is a federally funded pre-college TRIO program. The program is designed to assist low-income and potential first-generation college students complete high school and enter college/university. Cañada College partners with Sequoia Union High School to serve 50 eligible students who attend SUHS and/or who reside in the communities of East Palo Alto and North Fair Oaks. Students continuously receive academic support and information about the college admissions process. The services to all students include: intensive tutoring, major and career counseling, Saturday College supplemental instruction, and a mandatory six-week summer program intended to prepare the college-bound students. All services are provided by committed staff members who understand the importance of education and its role in transforming the lives of TRIO students.
